Lithuania and allies to spend $116.6 million on Ukraine’s air defense systems

Lithuania will purchase air defense equipment for Ukraine worth EUR 107.5 million ($116.6 million) alongside other allies, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence announced on June 14.
The United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland will pitch in.
“Lithuania persistently comes up with ways to support Ukraine. The air capabilities provided by seven nations will support Ukraine’s ability to protect its critical infrastructure, civilian population, and military personnel,” Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said.
It is the first of five military assistance packages for Ukraine within the second stage of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) funding mechanism launched by the UK. Seven partner nations have already collected almost EUR 608 million ($660 million) for the IFU.
Attack and reconnaissance drones were bought during the first stage. They are being produced now and will be delivered to Ukraine this summer.
The UK-led defense alliance of several European countries earlier announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine, including “radar to protect against indiscriminate Russian strikes, as well as guns, and a significant amount of ammunition.”
The Netherlands also announced that it will strengthen Ukraine’s air defense with four VERA-EG radars worth EUR 150 million ($162.5 million).
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
