Metro is projected to be restored by the end of summer 2024, Kyiv Mayor
Vitali Klitschko told Kyiv24 TV channel on Feb. 7.
"Our experts preliminarily say that we should restore the metro service by the end of the summer," the mayor said.
He pointed out that the likely causes of the cracks in the tunnel between the Demiivska and Teremky stations were errors in both the design process and construction work. Klitschko added that these conclusions are preliminary, and the wider expert investigation is ongoing.
On Dec. 8, the Kyiv City State Administration reported a six-month suspension of train service at six Blue Line stations from Demiivska to Teremki.
Due to urgent repair needs, a part of Kyiv Metro’s Blue Line between Lybidska and Teremki stations was closed on Dec. 8, 2023. Additional overground public transport services were deployed to accommodate the passenger flow.
