The heads of district administrations and educational institutions of the Ukraine’s capital are to ensure Kyivians will have uninterrupted access to civil defense shelters during air raid alerts, Kyiv City Administration has reported.
The city administration said 83% of kindergartens, 91% of schools, 95% of vocational and technical education institutions, and 75% of professional higher and higher education establishments in Kyiv had shelters as of the end of August 2023.
Overall, 68% of educational institutions in Ukraine have various types of shelters, with total capacity of 4.7 million students and teachers.
