At +20.6°C, sizzling Kyiv smashes 96-year-old heat record

A new temperature record was set as Ukraine’s capital city’s air temperature reached +20.6°C on Sept. 23, the Sreznevskyi Central Geophysical Observatory reported this milestone on Facebook on Sept. 25.
“On Sept. 23, in Kyiv, the average daily air temperature was recorded as the highest (ever) for this day, reaching +20.6°C,” the statement read.
This figure surpassed the previous record from 1927 by 0.2°C and exceeded the climatic norm by 7.1°C, said the observatory.
Throughout the Summer 2023, Kyiv has set 13 temperature records.
