Russian authorities blame heat for energy collapse as Rostov Oblast faces outages
Authorities in Russia’s Rostov Oblast will limit electricity
supply to local industrial enterprises to reduce substation load and avoid
emergency shutdowns, regional governor Vasily Golubev stated, as reported by The Moscow Times on Telegram on
July 8.
Golubev did not link the current situation to Ukrainian
strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, instead attributing it to the heat.
“According to experts, the risks of overloading and
equipment failure are not decreasing,” he said.
“Therefore, the reintroduction of temporary power outage
measures cannot be ruled out.”
Partially restricting electricity supply to enterprises would minimize power outages in residents’ homes and would supposedly have no impact on the Oblast’s industry, Golubev said.
