FSB claims to block assassination of Russia’s puppet leaders in Crimea
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) allegedly prevented the preparation of assassination attempts on the so-called "leaders" of Crimea on May 3, Russian news agency RBC reported.
The targets were the so-called "head" of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, "parliamentary speaker" Vladimir Konstantinov, and "mayor" of Yalta Yanina Pavlenko, the FSB said.
The Russians accuse the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry for preparing the "terrorist attacks". They named Roman Mashovets, deputy head of the Presidential Office, as the organizer of the "assassination attempts”.
The FSB claimed to have detained "members of a Ukrainian agent group" – five citizens of Russia and Ukraine and one citizen of Ukraine and Bulgaria.
