France to train new Ukrainian Brigade, supply tanks and artillery by 2024 end

Around 2,100 Ukrainian soldiers — the equivalent of a French Army brigade — are set to undergo a two-month exercising program in French military camps, including enhanced specialized tanks trainings, France Info reported on July 17.
Ukrainian forces will receive substantial military equipment, including 128 VAB armored personnel carriers, 18 CAESAR self-propelled artillery units, and 24 light tanks, French officials confirmed.
Additional supplies will include anti-tank missiles, trucks, and radar systems.
France has already provided Ukraine with military equipment worth approximately €2.615 billion ($2.846 billion), French Defense Ministry said.
France also contributed €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) to the European Peace Facility (EPF), which has supported Ukraine with over €3.8 billion ($4.1 billion) between Feb. 24, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2023.
“Almost 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already been trained by Poland and France,” French officials noted.
Military support to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a security cooperation agreement on Feb. 16.
Western allies would form a coalition to supply long-range weapons to Ukraine, hinting at the possibility of sending Western troops in the future, Macron said after a support conference in Paris on February 26.
France will supply Ukraine with decommissioned military equipment instead of discarding it, French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu said on March 29.
Lecornu announced on March 31 the provision of "hundreds" of old but "still functional" armored vehicles and Aster missiles as part of a new aid package.
France was ready to send instructors to train Ukrainian soldiers, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed on May 27.
