Estonia takes the lead: most generous countries in aid to Ukraine — infographic
Estonia, Denmark, Lithuania, Norway, and Latvia lead in providing aid to Ukraine when measured as a ratio of the GDP of these countries, said the Ukraine Support Tracker review, prepared by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
The total amount of Estonia's long-term and short-term commitments to aid Ukraine is 3.6% of the country's GDP. Denmark ranks second in this indicator with 2.4%, followed by Norway (1.7%), Lithuania (1.54%), and Latvia (1.2%).
In terms of the total amount of aid and commitments to support Ukraine as a percentage of GDP, Germany's aid is 0.6%, Great Britain's is 0.5%, the United States' is 0.32%, and France's is 0.59%.
On the other hand, concerning the amounts of aid provided and promised to Ukraine in financial, humanitarian, and military spheres in billions of euros, the European Union leads with a total of EUR 84.99 billion ($91.5 billion) (77.18 billion in financial assistance, 2.21 billion in humanitarian, and 5.6 billion in military). The United States ranks second with a total of EUR 67.71 billion ($73 billion) in aid (24.03 billion in financial, 1.45 billion in humanitarian, and 42.22 billion in military). Germany is in third place with EUR 22.06 billion ($23.75 billion) in aid provided and commitments as of Jan. 15, 2024 (1.41 billion in financial assistance, 2.95 billion in humanitarian, and 17.7 billion in military).
Due to Republican obstructionism and the desire to help Donald Trump’s electoral chances, theU.S. House of Representatives is unlikely to consider the bill allocating further assistance to Ukraine before mid-March, Reuters reported on Feb. 16.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
