Fourth body got pulled out of rubble in Odesa, up to 12 people may be under the rubble
The death toll from a Russian drone strike on a dilapidated high-rise building in Odesa has risen to four, with 10 to 12 individuals potentially trapped under the rubble, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin reported on March 2.
“Now, according to some information, we are checking the possibility of finding 10 to 12 people,” said Kostin at the scene of the tragedy.
“We cannot get in touch with them. The information is being checked. We have just had a minute of silence to hear if there is a call for help.”
Kostin noted that the enemy is attacking Ukraine every day, including Odesa.
“Today we are witnessing how the aggressor country is trying to destroy our present, but also to destroy our future by killing our children,” he added.
“What is happening now is not just a policy of constant terror of the civilian population. It is a policy of genocide against the entire Ukrainian people. A policy that is directed by the highest leadership of the Russian Federation.”
SES reported that they found the body of the fourth victim under the rubble on the ground floor. Currently, work is underway to unblock it.
The head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, said that the identities of three other victims have been established. These are a woman born in 1952, a man born in 1988 and a child born in 2021.
In Odesa, during a night attack on March 2, a Russian drone hit a nine-story building, destroying one of the entrances.
At least four people were killed and eight wounded. A three-year-old boy is among the dead.
Search operations continue. There are 95 rescuers working at the scene, 22 units of equipment, as well as dog teams.
