Storm strands bulk carrier off Russia’s Black Sea coast

A Belize-flagged bulk carrier ran aground near the town of Anapa due to a storm in the Black Sea on Nov. 26, Russia’s Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport (Rosmorrechflot) has reported on Telegram.
The cargo ship Blue Shark ran aground off the coast of Anapa near the village of Vityazevo.
The vessel was carrying a cargo of barley for Egypt in the Taman seaport. After receiving a storm warning, it moved to anchor.
There were 21 crew members on board – citizens of Syria, India, and Egypt, the ship's captain said.
Strong winds and waves tore the ship from its anchors on the evening of Nov. 26. It drifted toward the shore until it ran aground.
The vessel is currently stranded in the immediate vicinity of the shore.
Experts are developing plans for an emergency rescue operation.
As of 11.12 p.m. on Nov. 26, almost 500,000 people in Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimea were left without electricity due to the bad weather.
On Nov. 26, an active southern cyclone brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to most regions of Ukraine, and a storm broke out on the Black Sea.
A number of roads, including part of the M15 international highway, were closed to traffic. There have been reports of people injured in road accidents.
