Blast in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast destroys locomotive, causes massive fuel leak
A blast in Russia’s Bryansk Oblast on May 1 caused a diesel locomotive and four railway cars to burn, leading to the leak of 12 tons of diesel fuel, Russia’s independent news outlet Baza reported on Telegram on May 2.
The explosives were allegedly planted in three sites. The main blast’s force was the equivalent to about 10 kg of TNT. The other two had an explosive yield of about 200 grams of TNT.
A crater 1.5-meter crater over 2.5 meters deep could be seen at the blast site, reported Baza.
About six meters of rail and four concrete sleepers were also destroyed in the bast. The train carrying fuel tanks derailed.
Russian special services have allegedly identified the suspect in the blast. Early reports state that he is a 40-year-old man wearing a black backpack and traveling by bicycle.
