Minsk will not be able to independently
decide whether to use nuclear weapons Russia is in the process of deploying
to Belarus, Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Ryabkov, said
in July 21, according to a report by Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.
"I would like to emphasize once again that there are no transfers of control over nuclear weapons to anyone within the framework of the current events," Ryabkov said.
He added that the transfer of nukes to Belarus is taking place "according to schedule".
“The schedule of work related to the resolution of this issue was published in statements by the President of the Russian Federation,” the official said.
“We proceed from the fact that it remains valid. There are no changes or additions to what has been previously announced in this regard.”
On June 9, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow would begin to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus after July 7-8. On June 16, Putin said that Russia had supposedly already brought the first nuclear charges over to Belarusian territory.
On June 20, Ukrainian Military Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov that the Kremin is yet to equip its ally with nuclear weapons.
