Beating ‘negligence and corruption,’ construction of Darnytskyi Bridge is completed in Kyiv

The reconstruction of the Darnytskyi Bridge in Kyiv has been completed, and two new exits are open to traffic towards the Paton Bridge and the area of Osokorky, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced on July 6.
This will make it possible for the city to provide a direct connection between the capital’s Osokorky, Pozniaky and Berezniaky residential districts, Kubrakov said.
"The Darnytskyi Bridge has become one of the symbols of Kyiv's long-term construction projects," Kubrakov said.
"For more than 10 years, it has become a monument to negligence and corruption. However, even with the reopening of the Darnytskyi Bridge, our fight against long-term construction projects and emergency bridges is not over.”
Kubrakov said that the government wants to assess Kyiv’s bridges, and develop solutions to protect the transport infrastructure of the capital and maintain its proper condition.
The reconstruction of the Darnytskyi Bridge was launched in 2021. Due to Russia’s full-scale invasion, work was suspended in March-April 2022 but resumed in May 2022.
