Ex-Chernihiv Oblast medical chief detained as authorities find nearly $1 Million during search
Ukraine’s law enforcement officers found almost $1 million during a search of the apartment of the former head of the Chernihiv Oblast Military Medical Commission (MMC), Suspilne public broadcaster said, citing its sources, on Feb. 21.
The searches were carried out as part of an investigation connected to criminal acts in the suspect's apartment in Kyiv, the publication said.
The suspect served as the head of the regional MMC until the summer of 2021 and is currently held in custody without the possibility of bail.
In August 2023, Ukraine’s SBU security service detained the head of the Zhytomyr Oblast MMC, who was involved in aiding draft dodgers to leave the country illegally. In November, in Chernivtsi Oblast, the head of another MMC was informed of suspicion of extorting a bribe from a wounded serviceman.
