Loud explosion in Mykolaiv triggers ballistic missile threat alert in four Ukrainian regions

A loud explosion was heard near Mykolaiv at 12:35 EET, the city's mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych, reported on Telegram on Oct. 12, urging residents to refrain from taking videos and to seek safety, promising to provide official information later.
Immediately after, the Ukrainian Armed Forces issued a ballistic missile threat alert for Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Kherson oblasts.
The explosion occurred outside the city, Mykolaiv’s regional governor Vitaliy Kim clarified on Telegram a few minutes later.
Russian forces have regularly targeted the outskirts of Mykolaiv recently. There have been several reports of explosions in Mykoliav Oblast, causing considerable confusion about their origin, including on Oct, 7 amid unconfirmed reports of a Russian missile launch hitting the "same area".
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
