Ukrainian singer decries Russian star's ‘devil's pact’ for performing her song to invaders in Donbas
Ukrainian singer Iryna Bilyk has responded powerfully to Filip Kirkorov, who cynically performed her song Sneg (“Snow”) in front of the Russian military in the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast.
She posted a video on her Instagram page on Feb. 13 with heartbreaking footage taken during Russia's war against Ukraine and dedicated a poem to Vladimir Putin to the music from her famous song.
"Did you look at yourself yesterday?
Did you see your reflection?
It's time to look at yourself!
"The 'genius' of shame and nakedness!
How many years have you been singing this song?
But you did not understand the essence...
If a lie has broken into your heart
Then you can't bring back decency...
You sing for the one who
at dawn destroyed my home...
You're tail-wagging before the horde,
That will trample you down!
Ukraine is in tears,
You are mocking her now!
God will punish you in heaven...
Blood-stained ‘snow’ at your door...
Every time you sing...
Remember my sad look...
You're selling your soul to the devil.
But you can't get it back..." Bilyk says in a powerful video addressing the Russian singer.
Having been blacklisted after a scandal involving "LGBT propaganda" at a naked party in Moscow, Kirkorov is desperately trying to appease the Kremlin regime. At first, he thought that a simple "apology" would suffice, claiming that he had just "walked into the wrong door," then he decided to make amends by promising to give part of the money he earned from his concerts to "charity." When that didn't help, he went to perform for the Russian troops in the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
