Ukrainian chess player promotes tournament headed by Putin supporters, photo report

Anna Muzychuk, a Ukrainian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster (GM), featured in a promotional video for the International Chess Federation's (FIDE) World Championship in blitz and rapid chess scheduled in Austria in 2024, Chess-News tweeted on July 21.
FIDE CEO Emil Sutovsky was also featured in the video.
Muzychuk has been criticized for her appearance in the video, as the International Chess Federation is headed by Arkady Dvorkovich, a Russian pro-Kremlin politician. He served as the deputy of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for 10 years. On July 20, he awarded prominent Russian chess players in Moscow – an event attended by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
