The Ukrainian police have evacuated children
from 12 frontline settlements of Donetsk Oblast, Interior Minister Igor
Klymenko said in a Telegram post on Oct. 17.
The minister said that 345 children and their families were evacuated from the following settlements: Zalizne, New York, Pivnichne (Bakhmut district), Yampil, Torske, Zarichne, Orikhuvatka, Nykanorivka, Malynivka, Tykhonivka, Vasyutynske, and Rai-Oleksandrivka (Kramatorsk district).
On Oct. 15, acting Donetsk regional governor Ihor Moroz announced that 260 children would be evacuated from Toretsk and Mariupol districts.
In August, similar steps were taken to safeguard Ukrainian children living in Kharkiv Oblast towns near the contact line.
The government approved the mechanism for mandatory evacuation of children from active combat zones on March 7, 2023.
