IOC amends quotas for Russian, Belarusian athletes at Paris 2024 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee amended the number of Russian and Belarusian athletes who will be able to participate in the Paris Olympics under a neutral flag in a press release originally published on Dec. 8.
The IOC initially reported that eight Russian athletes had been admitted to the Olympics, but now the list includes six representatives of the Russian Federation, according to the organization's official website.
Instead of three Belarusian athletes, as previously reported, five athletes have been admitted. The names of the athletes have not been disclosed.
The reasons for the decision to change the numbers are not reported.
The Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to Aug. 11, 2024.
The Ministry of Sports of Ukraine called the decision "condoning murderer." Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the IOC had given Russia the green light to weaponize the Olympics.
Former Ukrainian national football player Yevhen Levchenko called on Ukraine to boycott the Olympics.
Olympic champion and MP Zhan Beleniuk said the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics came as no surprise.
