Ukrainian produce continues expanding into new markets

In Q1 2026 alone, 14 new export markets have opened for Ukrainian
food products, State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service head Serhiy
Tkachuk told Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform on March 24.
Tkachuk also specified that Ukrainian exporters have accesses 89 overseas markets since 2022.
“The war has become a paradoxical driver,” he said.
"Since the start of the year through March 2026, 14 new export markets have opened for Ukrainian food products. And since 2022, 89 new markets have opened for Ukrainian food. We stepped up our work, and partners that support Ukraine began opening their markets more quickly. Geography has changed also: more Asia, more Africa — diversification instead of relying on a handful of markets."
Tkachuk said key Ukrainian export products include poultry meat, eggs and egg products, honey, grains, and sugar.
“For example, we exhaust the EU quota for Ukrainian honey in one month,” he continued.
“Even beyond [tariff-free] quotas, our products remain competitive. It is also worth noting that the United Kingdom has lifted quotas on Ukrainian poultry meat.”
He suggested that more countries are embracing Ukrainian food produce because they trust Ukraine’s food standards.
"Despite the challenges of war, our control system works, and we confirm, ensure, and guarantee that the products we supply to these countries after markets are opened will meet the highest quality standards," Tkachuk said.
Ukraine's agricultural exports totaled $22.6 billion in
2025, accounting for about 56% of the country's overall exports.
