Ukrainian farmers harvest early grains from 55% of planted area
Ukrainian farmers have harvested 24.8 mln tons of early grains and pulses from 6.1 million hectares, completing threshing on 55% of the planted area, the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture reported on Aug. 15.
The harvest includes 18.9 million tons of wheat from 4.3 million hectares, 4.7 million tons of barley from 1.2 million hectares, and 573,500 tons of peas from 230,000 hectares. Other grains and pulses were harvested from 310,800 hectares, totaling 513,100 tons.
Odesa Oblast leads with 3.4 million tons harvested from 1.07 million hectares, followed by Kirovohrad Oblast with 2.2 million tons from 533,000 hectares, and Vinnytsia Oblast with 2 million tons from 338,000 hectares.
Rapeseed harvest stands at 3.014 million tons from 1.184 million hectares.
Farmers in Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts have also started harvesting buckwheat.
Significant crop damage and losses have been recorded in six drought-hit oblasts: Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhya.
In July, the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) forecast that in the 2025/26 marketing year (July–June), grain and oilseed harvest could rise by 5.5% compared to the previous season — from 78.7 million tons to 83 million tons.
