Ukraine partners with Poland to secure winter power supply - Ukrenergo

Ukrenergo national power operator is "cooperating with Poland to increase the technical capabilities and volume of electricity supplies to Ukraine in the fall and winter seasons," company's CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said on Aug. 2.
He made this announcement amid concerns about future challenges that damaged Ukrainian power system may face in winter.
Efforts are being made "not only to repair and step up critical infrustructure protection, but also to find solutions to supply more electricity to Ukraine from Europe," he said.
"We are developing options to compensate for the electricity deficit caused by the Russian attacks."
Ukrenergo has not imposed any restrictions on power consumption for almost a week, as there is enough electricity to meet all needs.
"This is an important relief for all Ukrainians, but I must remind you that we have no right to relax: the damage to the power system is significant, and we still have challenges ahead. The possibility of the return of high temperatures above 30C (86F) may change the situation in the power system".
Kudrytskyi urged Ukrainians to postpone energy consumption to the period from 11:00 to 15:00, when solar power plants are working at full capacity on July 29.
The power supply situation in Ukraine improved, he said on July 26, signaling that the summer's most difficult period may be over.
Russia has launched eight missile and drone attacks on Ukraine's power system since March 22,, resulting in reduced electricity generation at Ukrainian power plants. As a result, rolling blackouts were imposed in all Ukraine's oblasts on May 14.
