Ukraine needs $37 billion from partners to cover budget deficit, $10 billion urgently – FM
Ukraine needs around $37.3 billion in external financing to cover its budget deficit for the current year, including $9.5 billion for urgent recovery needs, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry stated in press release on March 6.
The Ukrainian government has been working to maintain macroeconomic stability amidst extreme uncertainty and challenges caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion, said Ukraine’s Deputy Finance Minister, Olha Zykova.
The support of international partners is critically important, as domestic resources are focused on resisting the aggressor.
Budget priorities and the nation's recovery are vital for economic development and the return of Ukrainians to their homeland, Zykova told a roundtable in Paris dedicated to Ukraine's recovery and the role of the public and private sectors.
Zykova highlighted the importance of rapid reconstruction and how it helps Ukraine’s economic recovery while creating safe living conditions for Ukrainians.
She also expressed gratitude to international partners for their support.
