Ukraine raises electricity rates starting June
Ukraine raised the electricity tariff for residents to 4.32 UAH/kWh ($0.11) starting June 1, causing the "night" tariff to also increase, the Energy Ministry announced on May 31.
This tariff will be in effect for 11 months, until April 2025.
The "night" tariff, available with a two-zone meter, is set at 2.16 UAH/kWh ($0.05).
By installing a two-zone meter, which accounts for consumption during day and night times, consumers can significantly save on electricity costs. Consumers with such meters will pay only half of the standard tariff for electricity used between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. EET.
From Oct. 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025, during the heating season, consumers using electric heating systems will benefit from a preferential tariff of 2.64 UAH/kWh ($0.06) for up to 2000 kWh of electricity consumed per month.
During the summer of 2024, with an average monthly electricity consumption of 170 kWh, Ukrainians' bills will increase by 285 UAH ($7).
