European Commission offers Ukraine new macro aid worth up to 9 billion euros
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the EU’s intention to provide Ukraine with a new package of macro-financial assistance of up to 9 billion euros in 2022, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported on May 18.

According to the European Commission chief, these funds will be allocated for short-term "current needs to support the government, the state bud-get."
Earlier, the IMF said it would consider the possibility of seizing the now-frozen foreign exchange reserves of the Russian central bank. Such a move has been floated due to what U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said was inadequate financial support from Ukraine’s partners.
