Ukraine's General Staff confirms strike on Novatek-Ust-Luga complex in Russia

A fire broke out at the site following the attack. According to preliminary information, two processing units at the complex were damaged.

Novatek-Ust-Luga is one of Russia's key facilities for fractionating and processing stable gas condensate. The complex has a capacity of about 8 million tons of raw material per year. Its output is used in Russia's war-related economic activity and to supply the needs of Russia's armed forces.

The scale of the damage and the results of the strike are still being determined. Ukraine's Defense Forces said efforts to destroy important enemy targets are ongoing.

Earlier that morning, Leningrad Oblast Gov. Alexander Drozdenko said drones had attacked the region. A fire broke out at the port of Ust-Luga following the strike.

In late March, Ukraine's SBU Security Service confirmed that long-range drones had successfully struck infrastructure at the oil terminal at the port of Ust-Luga in Russia's Leningrad Oblast. Satellite images confirmed that large fires burned at the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga.

On April 5, Bloomberg reported that Ust-Luga had resumed oil exports at a minimal level after several days of shutdown.

On April 7, Ukraine's General Staff confirmed a new strike on the port of Ust-Luga, saying three storage tanks were hit.
