The Netherlands will strengthen Ukraine’s air defense with four radars worth 162.5 million

The Netherlands will transfer four VERA-EG radars to Ukraine – worth EUR 150
million ($162.5 million) – to strengthen its air defense, announced Dutch
Defense Ministry head Kaisa Ollongren.
VERA-EG radars are said to be passive radars that do not emit their own radio signal, but only pick up others’ signals, and are capable of finding, identifying, and tracking targets over land and sea.
“Russia is shelling civilian and military objects in Ukraine from the air. Therefore, as before, it is important to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. The Netherlands is contributing to this together with its allies,” she reports.
The day before, ten of Ukraine’s European allies announced a new aid package to help Ukraine’s air defense. The package includes “radar to protect against indiscriminate Russian strikes, as well as guns, and a significant amount of ammunition.”
