Russian drone targets SBU chief’s office in Kyiv as Zelenskyy orders response

“I spoke with SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad. Unfortunately, a Russian drone struck the main SBU building on Volodymyrska Street in Kyiv, opposite St. Sophia Cathedral,” Zelenskyy said.

Emergency crews are working at the scene. All those injured will receive the necessary assistance.

“The drone was aimed directly at the SBU chief’s office in that building. I instructed Poklad to respond to the Russians appropriately, in a way they will feel and, if possible, in kind, once everything is prepared,” Zelenskyy added.

The general was not in his office at the time of the strike, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing sources.

Russia has attacked Kyiv with jet-powered Shahed drones for nine straight days. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a drone fell in the Shevchenkivskyi district, injuring five people, four of whom were hospitalized.

A Zavertailo location near St. Sophia Cathedral was also destroyed in the Russian attack, chain co-founder Stas Zavertailo reported.

A fire also broke out at an industrial business in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, after Russian strikes. Heavy smoke caused a temporary deterioration in air quality in the city.
