Ukrainians nationwide face more planned blackouts during the evening on May 17

Blackout schedules have been canceled in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv oblasts, and Kyiv as of now, but the situation in the energy system remains "extremely difficult", DTEK explained.

Stabilization power outages will be applied from 7:00 p.m. EET, Ukrenergo wrote. 

“Blackout schedules can be seen on DTEK websites in Kyiv or other oblasts.".

Kyiv residents can also find power outage schedules in the Kyiv Digital application.

Updated. Ukrainian energy system experiences significant electricity shortage for most of the day, therefore, Ukrenergo sets consumption limits for each oblast. Blackout schedules were in effect from 12:00 a.m. to 08:00 a.m. and will be applied again from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. in all oblasts.

Controlled emergency power outages were introduced in all Ukraine’s oblasts due to a significant electricity shortage in the system on May 14, Ukrenergo reported.

Only 10% Kyiv residents faced power outages, Kyiv City Administration reported.

Scheduled blackouts were applied across Ukraine between 6:40 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on May 15.

Ukrenergo applied new limits for household and industrial consumers on May 16.

The reason for the outages was an increase in consumption due to the cold weather amid five massive Russian attacks on the power system since March 22, 2024, the company explained.
